Metro rolls into Noida.

Noida line will add another 13.1 kmS to Line 3, extending it to 47.3 kmS; entire corridor will have 42 stations; Train frequency will be 12 mins at peak hours

Taking the big leap into the National Capital Region, Delhi Metro’s first train to Noida was flagged off on Thursday from Akshardham Metro station. Another ceremonial flag off was done from Noida City Centre (Sector 32).

An extension of Line 3 — Dwarka Sector 9 to Yamuna Bank — the line chugs into Noida covering a distance of 13.1 km with stoppages at ten stations. It will be opened for the public from Friday.

Delayed by well over a month from its October deadline, the line came up after eleven piers detected with cracks were strengthened and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) was convinced of the safety arrangements.

The line is expected to add a passenger load of 53,000 — a positive growth for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. But it is expected to add more pressure on Line 3, which is already overcrowded and is facing a severe shortage of trains.
